I am so excited. In less than 2 days I will be seeing Lydia again after almost 3 months. We met at Marks & Tracy’s wedding in late July and only got to spend a week together before she had to go back home to London. We had a great time during that week and since then there have been only 2 days in which we weren’t in touch. My phone bill is astronomical, but it is the lack of sleep from trans-timezone chatting that took the biggest toll.
Lydia will be here for 6 WEEKS! In that time we are going to a wedding together, she is coming to Harbourlife with the Party Posse, and there have been soft plans made for journeys to Dubbo, Melbourne and the Hunter Valley.

Tonight, at the Shanghai Palace in Chatswood, I attended a Datacom/Microsoft Tech Support reunion dinner for those of us who suffered in the late 90’s in the days of Windows 98 and NT 4.0. I had worked closely with three of the guys there and, like any reunion, it was a mixture of slight awkwardness, reminiscing, and hearing about people’s lives. The food was the whitest possible without going as far as Sweet & Sour Pork, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. This, however, is not the subject of this post.
I arrived in Chatswood a full 40 minutes early (!) and, as it was late-night shopping, went for a walk up Victoria Ave in search of things to look at. The air was humid, smelling of Chinese spices, naphthalene, and a little bit of air conditioning mould. It was almost like being in KL.
The lure of Chatswood Westfields drew me in, and I remembered a background mission that I have been pursuing for some time: to get some new Volleys. I have looked in a Big W and 2 Kmarts but the selection has been poor in all cases. They never have any size 10’s (weird that I am size 11½ for every other shoe). Chatswood Target, however, is a Dunlop Volley shopper’s delight: they have every size of every colour. White with blue, white with green & gold, black, and white with green & gold, extra green trim, green laces and SKULLS inside! Guess which ones I bought? $30 = BARGAIN!
Aren’t they lovely? I think that I will wear them to see M.A.N.D.Y. on Saturday night. The green is the exact same as my new lamb shirt. I know that Lydia is reading this and groaning at my poor taste. I like them.

For the first year ever I actually remembered to write this post. Today my blog is 8 years old. The blog has been through at least 6 versions, and when I started the word "blog" had yet to be coined, so I was writing "updates". I have some of the old versions online:
- Version 1 (1999 - Jan 2000)
- Version 2 (2000)
- Version 3 (2001-2002) (broken at the moment) [update 22/11/2007: moved to a new server and online]
- Version 4 (2002-2003) (broken)
- Version 5 (2003-2004) (broken)
- Version 6 (2004-2007) (this red one) [update 22/11/2007: not this one anymore]
- Version 7 (coming Real Soon Now) [update 22/11/2007: this one now]
If I get home in time tonight I will fix up some of the broken ones, so check back later. [update 22/11/2007: fixed black, brown, red and grey]

Chriso was meant to post this to the Party Posse website but, since he has not done so, I will post it here.
There are three signs that someone is a werewolf:
- They turn into a werewolf
- They wake up naked with blood around their mouth
- They sneeze when exposed to bright light
Be warned. Werewolves walk among us.

I got a new shipment of threadless shirts today, I have been expecting them for a few days now. They just had one of their $10 sales so I bought four shirts, although I really only cared for 2 or 3 of them. In descending order of fondness, they are:
Insomnia
I like this one because it is green, which suits me, and because I am as sweet and innocent as a little lamb.

Marshmallow Factory
Charlie the Unicorn and Afternoon Delight meet with cuteness. This is my flatmate, Megatron’s, favourite of this shipment.

Strength in Numbers
I liked the colour of the shirt, but the actual shirt delivered is a teal/aqua colour of which I am not too fond. The design is ok but not awesome.

Clouds Within the Thunder
This is the one I bought because it was only $10. It is a nice shade of red but the print is off-centre, too large, and doesn’t really stand out.

On Wednesday I took delivery of my newest shirt, a Fruity Oaty Bar shirt from Make U Smile Tees. I only found this site recently, they make licensed shirts from all kinds of movies and TV shows etc. I was looking for firefly/serenity shirts, FOX closed down the good old Blue Sun Shirts website so I did a search. The fruity oaty bar shirt just jumped out at me, I told Amelia about it and she bought herself one immediately.
The shirt is made from a lightweight cotton, good for Summer. I got a large but it is a little too small for me, I will probably buy an XL to replace it. I wish everyone just used American Apparel shirts, the large size fits me perfectly. The cotton smelled funny but this was fixed after a wash. I like the colour and texture, it is unusual and kinda fits the Serenity ‘verse.
The shirt is themed on a scene in the movie Serenity where an ad for Frutiy Oaty Bars is played in a dodgy bar and it triggers River’s killing powers.
One of the best things about the shirt is that I got it for FREE! Or, at least, I didn’t pay any money for it. They have a webmasters program where a PR3 or higher site that links to them can get a shirt for free. I think it is a good deal for both sides, as long as the webmasters are honest. Anyway I was personally contacted by the owner of the site for some feedback, which was nice. I told him what I honestly thought and also suggested (requested?) some new designs based on Jayne’s shirts in Firefly. Now that Blue Sun is closed down I cannot get my fix, and anyway their shirts were ill-fitting and aged poorly.

I just found an old love poem that I wrote for Claudia in March. At the time we were amused by the semi-emo electrikk movement. This poem is tehsecks:
a robot and dinosaur met in a park
under some trees, feet crunching in bark
the robot was mighty, the dinosaur not
when struck by the lasers his skin became hot
beast bellowed in pain, smoke rising above
some make no distinction ‘tween pigeon and dove
the robot did, though, as he aimed for the sky
the smoldering pigeon could no longer fly
the robot victorious, the dinosaur crisp
the pigeon was still, with nary a wisp
machine stood alone, burning flesh at its feet
“I am glad I am metal, and not made of meat”
It made sense to us.
