The “TEL” is for Telstra

As you might know, I moved out of my house on the 27th of February. The next day, the 28th, I cancelled all of my utilities (phone, power, internet, cable). Cancelling the Foxtel cable service involves returning the set-top unit to them, and in previous houses they have sent someone over to pick it up. The helpful operator told me that this has changed, and that they will send a postage-prepaid padded bag over to my new address. All I need do is pop the unit into the bag and drop it off at the Post Office.

No bag has come.

Today I received two identical letters from Foxtel informing me that they have repeatedly attempted to recover their equipment from me, and as I have not complied they have charged me the replacement cost of the unit. They took the money straight out of my bank account. The letters were both dated March 1st.

So, after I cancelled the service at the end of 28th February, Foxtel tried “repeatedly” to recover the equipment overnight. As I did not return the equipment during that night, they had no recourse but to charge me. The day after I cancelled.

Yes, it is true. Foxtel is owned by Telstra. There is a very strong link in my mind map between the word Telstra and certain other words that start with F and C, respectively. The F I am referring to is not Foxtel.

My new Niece / Nephew

My sister Michelle has given me the latest ultrasound pics of her baby, tentatively named Ruby or Sampson.

Ruby Sampson 3 March 2005

You can see the spine and fingers (they are the white dots). It is now 6cm long (about 2.5 inches for the primitives) and looks healthy, no problems.

How exciting.

Why won’t you buy my car?

My car was published in yesterday’s edition of the Trading Post, and as yet I have not had any calls :(

When we sold Kirsten’s car there were many more leads coming from the Trading Post than from online ads, so I went with the archaic paper method. Now I am not so sure, perhaps it is only the severe cheapskates who read the paper. With this possibility in mind I have now listed my car on Drive.
