The Blue Power Core is critical

I like the Unreal Tournament 2004 Demo. I have put a few hours into it, and I agree with what Spong has written. It is a great game, and i will be buying it with my birthday EB voucher when it comes out, I think it is more fun than Far Cry.

I really like UT (1.0) and I think that UT2k4 is a return to the same secret recipe, afer the straying from the path that was UT2k3. UT2004 runs super fast on my Athlon 2100, which is below entry-level by current standards. UT 2003 seemed to run slower on the same hardware. I remember that UT 1.0 was always a good LAN choice because it would run on almost anything, I guess that the same will be true for UT2k4. The netcode seems pretty good as well, although it is possibly just my fast connection. So it looks like Epic (*Atari) have delivered the goods again.

I am also pleased to report that I 0wn at this game, I am consistently in the top 10%. That is especially pleasing because I have not been playing many games of late, not even on the xbox. I suspect that once again this is due to my comprehension of team-based gaming. I am actually out capturing Power Cores instead of trying to push 3 other players away from the Raptor spawn in order to get the Redeemer. If you don’t know, my favourite game type is Onslaught.

Recipe: Tasty Chicken

Chicken (thigh fillets best)
Soy Sauce
Lemon Juice
Garlic
Chili

In a bowl, combine 3 parts soy sauce to 2 parts lemon juice, and add lots of chopped garlic and chopped chili. You want to make enough to just cover all of the chicken. Add the chicken. Marinate for 45 minutes, turning a few times. You do not really want to marinate for any longer than this as the flavour will be too intense.

Cook in your preferred way. My preferred way is on the BBQ. There is no need to baste.

Another alternate blog

I have succumbed. I am now using the .text database for darryn.net, and the .text interface for actually writing posts. I am not actually going to use the .text interface for the foreseeable future as it does not have the features I am after. Maybe I will write what I want and contribute it to .text.

If you want to add comments, etc. my .text interface is here.

A great birthday

It was my birthday on Monday - I turned 29. As usual, I managed to stretch the birthday out over a few days. I had a BBQ on Saturday evening, yum cha on Sunday and a day off on Monday.

The BBQ was a joint birthday party and housewarming party. We had about 30 guests and I thought that the party was very successful. I was pleased with the reaction to my Tasty Chicken, I will add it to my BBQ repertoire. As I have lost my camera I have not any photos, but I will post others’ photos as they send them to me. A highlight of the party was of course that some people brought presents, and Michelle brought my favourite lemon butter cake.

Sunday’s yum cha was a family affair with my brothers and sister, all three parents and Kirsten. We went to a Chinese seafood restaurant in Castle Towers - I was a bit dubious about this but it turned out to be very good, in many ways better than the usual chinatown experience. I received presents during lunch.

The plan for my actual birthday was to go to Wonderland, as Kirsten has never been to a theme park. This plan was soon abandoned as temperatures rose to 40 degrees. I spent most of the day in front of the air conditioner in the lounge room, playing xbox, watching TV and sleeping.
