You deserve an explanation

You see my problem, don’t you? I had to sacrifice my website for the security of the network, and the robustness of future websites. It died so that others might live, and live to be stronger.

Most of the hardware rotated into the new firewall, and an image of the hard disk lives in my RAID. I have got the old website running - but only on wintermute, which cannot publish to the world. You look at this website, and see that it is not looking too good, and not doing too much either. The reason is that I am re-writing it from scratch, and when I started I didn’t know how to use the tools. I still know practically nothing, but I occasionally manage to work out a way of doing what I would like. It is a stimulating challenge, facing SQL Server and .NET Framework (VB and C#) with nary a clue.

This night I made a breakthrough in the Photo Management app (I am writing WinForms apps to manage the content) so you may expect an actual photo section Real Soon Now.

Attack of The *Spoilers*

kicks ass. It could have done with a bit more lightsabre fighting for my tastes, but I guess they have to think of the marketplace. Speaking of which, I was glad to hear others boo-ing on Jar-Jar’s entrance. A short sentence remembering his tortured death would have been all that was necessary.

Highs: Yoda, Slave1, “the big battle”

Lows: Didn’t see Jar-Jar die, romance too distant from porn to relate to, MORE LIGHTSABRES PLEASE!

Prawnucopia follows win!

It is traditional to spend your change on tickets in the meat tray raffle in support of some local football team. It is just part of going to the pub on Friday night after work. But when the seafood tray is the object, motivations change. Tickets are held tighter, other are evaluated as foes. Tensions rise. It gives you the rush of the gambler, and mine is was reinforced tonight when lucky 65 came up and I became the proud new owner of 2 big crabs, 12 Balmain Bugs, 2 doz Oysters and a kilo of prawns.

Kirsten and I have now eaten all of the bugs and oysters, half of a crab, and some oft the prawns. Never let me see seafood again. Soo… full…

Sideshow not Freakshow

The Happy Sideshow’s performance at the the Sydney Opera House, in the Studio. This show was very much worth the small price of admission, you 90 minutes of entertainment for 25 bucks, no problems. Kisten took my brothers Reece and Aaron with us, and we went to City Extra so that Aaron culd have the Chocoholics Irresistable.

Seriously dude, check out the The Happy Sideshow’s website - I give them 4.5 stars - the .5 was because I was in the front row and afraid of getting singled out. This is more Merrick and Rosso’s fault that their own, I suspect. I do consider both of these performances to be ‘cultural experiences’ that warrant further investigation. I have tasted Opera enough to know that it is not my cup of tea. The SSO keeps me lost in thought. In a world of concesssions to adulthood, the last remnants of my youth fight stronger to stay alive, and performances like this sideshow give them power.

After the show I ran into Adam a.k.a. Rock Solid of Choko. It was good to see him, and he told me that they would be headlining at the Annandale on Friday the 24th (of May) and Bar Broadway on Thursday the 30th. I hope to buy him a beer then and have time to really catch up.
